Brother Huddleston’s words:

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of brother Bob Gibson, Wednesday evening, June 20th.  He had been seriously ill for a couple of months, and suffering from Alzheimers for several years before that. Bob and his wife Sue were longtime members of the Hartford congregation, having moved to the Edmond area several years ago in order to be closer to Bob’s doctors.

For many years and on several different occasions, Bob served the Hartford congregation as an elder.  His quiet wisdom and persistence was a valuable asset to the eldership and a blessing to the congregation.  He was particularly committed to evangelism locally and mission work throughout the world.   Bob and Sue, for many years led a home Bible study which led to the conversion of several and the mentoring of many.  He had made a number of trips to Spain when the church was involved with the support of several men there.  He and his wife and family were also involved in supporting stateside mission works such as in Iowa and South Dakota.  He worked with the youth and was usually involved in teaching one of the several adult classes held each quarter.  His classes were among some of the best ever offered at Hartford because Bob strove for excellence in everything he did.  He was also a gifted songleader.  All of this in addition to his work at Conoco as a Chemical Engineer which took him to many places as well as here in Ponca City.

Without any question, the Hartford congregation of today was greatly influenced and blessed by the life and work of Robert “Bob” Gibson.   We honor his good wife, Sue, for her faithful and loving service to him for more than fifty years, and particularly as she ministered to him in these last few years.  They are a great example to all of loving, faithful Christian service.  Heaven is the place where the redeemed shall gather and dwell for eternity, and there we fully expect to see our brother Bob.
