Margola Orr
April 7, 1922 – May 3, 2012
We were saddened to learn of the passing of sister Margola Orr on Thursday. Her death came as a shock both to her children as well as to those of us who were her church family. Margola had been ill for some time, not feeling like getting out of the home. She lost her husband of 68 years several years ago.
For many years Margola and her husband were active members of the Grand Avenue congregation, but they placed membership at Hartford in 2004. Losing her husband Gerald was a big blow to Margola and as time went on, she found it more and more difficult to get out. We loved her quiet manner, her sweet smile, and her gracious ways. She will be missed.
Agnes Margola Orr, resident, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at OklahomaHeart Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 90. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Hartford Avenue Church of Christ with Don Huddleston officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Margola Burd Orr was born April 7, 1922, in Pershing, Okla., the daughter of Jacob and Francis Agnes Wood Burd. She attended schools in Pershing and Nelagoney. She married Gerald Orr on July 19, 1939, in Barnsdall. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage. Shortly after they were married, Margola and Gerald moved to Oregon where they contributed to the World War II effort. Upon Gerald’s enlistment into the United States Army, Margola moved back to Pershing. In 1957, they moved to Ponca City where they remained.
Margola was a homemakerfor many years and was then employed by Howard’s/Gibson’s until her retirement. She was a member of Hartford Avenue Church of Christ. Margola devoted much of her life to her family. She truly enjoyed attending her children’s,grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s many activities and events. Margola was a nurturer and confidant who embodied the true meaning of unconditional love.
Survivors include three sons, Paul M. Orr and wife Donita of Oklahoma City, Dewaine G. Orr and wife Jill of Broken Arrow and Jerry L. Orr and wife Marsha of Ponca City; seven grandchildren, Mike Orr and wife Becky of Owasso, Teresa Walstad of Andale, Kan., Tami Currier and husband Lonnie of Eldorado, Kan., Tracy Huntington and husband Cordell Bugg of Tulsa, Jennifer Oard and husband Terry of Broken Arrow, Keri Bartley and husband Chris and Casey Orr and wife Amber all of Ponca City; 16 great-grandchildren: Amy and Kevin Orr, Katie, Hannah and Luke Walstad, Jake and Jessica Currier, Addison, Cooper and Emmerson Huntington-Bugg, Samantha and Zachary Oard, Emma and Sawyer Bartley and Gracie and Jackson Orr. She is also survived by her sister, Edith Mae White and husband Winter. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Letha Barnes; five brothers, Norvel Burd, Jefferson Burd, Riley Burd, Doward Burd and Royal Burd; and two great-grandsons, Christian Alan Bugg and Benjamin Blake Bartley.
Casketbearers were Mike Orr, Casey Orr, Lonnie Currier, Cordell Bugg, Terry Oard andChris Bartley.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommended memorial contributions be made in Margola’s name to Ponca City Child Development Center, 344 S. Elm Street, Ponca City, Okla. 74601.
