Norma Bellmard

October 25, 1927 – February 24, 2013

Norma Louise Bellmard, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Ponca City Medical Center. She was 85.

 Norma was born Oct. 25, 1927, near Ponca City, the daughter of Henry Hank Simmons and Nora Pringle Simmons. She was married to Ray Jonus Nelson on April 3, 1947, in Ponca City. In earlier years Norma operated a janitorial service in Tulsa, moving to Ponca City in the late 1970s. She had her own ceramic doll business since 1979. She enjoyed ceramic work, living on the farm, and animals, especially Shetland ponies. 

She is survived by her five children, Sara Standeford of Ponca City, Larry Dean Nelson of Oklahoma City, Johnny Ray Nelson of Enid, Jimmy Lester Nelson of Maryland and Ronnie Howard Nelson of Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Simmons. 

A funeral service was held on Friday, March 1, at Grace Memorial Chapel with Don Huddleston of Hartford Avenue Church of Christ presiding. Her remains were interred in the Longwood Cemetery, Ponca City.
